Submitting a Patent: IEEE 802.11 (a-j)

Any entity that believes it has granted patents essential to the normative portions of the IEEE 802.11 Standards (as defined below) is invited to contact Via Licensing Corporation to receive information about submitting patents for an essentiality determination. Submitters of patents determined to be essential to the practice of the IEEE 802.11 Standards are invited to join a group of essential patent holders to discuss the commercialization terms for IEEE 802.11 patents under reasonable and nondiscriminatory terms.

The IEEE 802.11 family of specifications consist of:

• IEEE Std 802.11-1999 (Reaff 2003)
• IEEE 802.11a-1999
• IEEE 802.11b-1999
• IEEE 802.11b-1999/Cor1-2001
• IEEE 802.11d-2001
• IEEE 802.11e-2005
• IEEE 802.11f-2003
• IEEE 802.11g-2003
• IEEE 802.11h-2003
• IEEE 802.11i-2004
• IEEE 802.11j-2004

Copies of the IEEE 802.11 Standards can be obtained from the IEEE website at www.ieee.org.

Patents are considered essential when they are determined to have at least one independent claim that would be necessarily and unavoidably infringed by the practice of the IEEE 802.11 Standard.

Any entity that believes it has patents or pending patent applications that are essential to the practice of IEEE 802.11 is invited to contact Via Licensing in order to receive information about how to submit patents for essentiality review.
