WiMAX is the next-generation of wireless technology designed to enable pervasive, high-speed mobile Internet access to the widest array of devices including notebook PCs, handsets, smartphones, and consumer electronics such as gaming devices, cameras, camcorders, music players, and more. Based on the IEEE 802.16e and 802.16m standards, as specified by the WiMAX Forum® as WiMAX Forum System Specification Releases 1.0, 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0, WiMAX enables the delivery of wireless broadband services and can accommodate fixed and mobile usage models.
