Jean-Michel Bourdon
President
Jean-Michel Bourdon brings over 20 years of experience in worldwide strategic account management to Via Licensing Corporation. As President, Jean-Michel is responsible for all company operations, including accounting and finance, business systems, legal, business development, marketing and sales. Under his five-year direction as Director of Worldwide OEM licensing at Adobe Systems, the company generated over $100 million in annual revenue and closed strategic agreements with Epson, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Ricoh, and Xerox, among others. Jean-Michel was previously Adobe's European OEM Business Manager, and held directorial and management positions at Quality Micro Systems (QMS) Southern Europe, Schlumberger Technologies, and General Electric Information Systems Company (GEISCO). Born in Paris, Jean-Michel holds a master's degree in economics from the University of Paris-Nanterre, an MBA degree from the Institut Supérieur de Gestion in Paris, and an MBA degree from the European University of America in San Francisco.



Nate Alvord
Vice President,
Licensing and Program Management
Nate Alvord brings more than 18 years experience in strategic corporate development and sales and marketing roles with a proven track record of success in intellectual property licensing, technology transfer and standards development to Via Licensing. Nate is responsible for overseeing program management and world-wide sales. Nate joined Via Licensing from Digimarc Corporation where he was a leading strategist in the fields of intellectual property licensing, copy protection, digital rights management, forensic tracking and digital media new business models. Nate has played a key role in watermarking market development activities involving the inclusion of watermarking in Academy Award screener forensic tracking programs as well as digital cinema specifications. Nate was one of the driving forces behind establishing the first cross-industry working group between the major motion picture studios and the P2P community, he also was instrumental in the formation of the Digital Watermarking Alliance (Watermarking’s first and only industry trade group). Prior to Digimarc, he held various senior business development positions for the Digital Content Services Unit of Enron Broadband Services; was director of North American Sales for International Teledata Corporation; and founded and later sold a successful computer telephony services business. Nate is a member of the Licensing Executives Society, and he holds a degree in Communications and Film from Montana State University.



Roger Ross
Vice President of Legal Affairs
Roger Ross is responsible for oversight of all legal matters affecting Via and its various licensing programs as well as managing Via’s legal and compliance teams. Prior to joining Via, Roger was a partner in the Silicon Valley office of McDermott, Will and Emery. He has spent more than 15 years representing technology and media companies such as Matsushita/Panasonic, Netscape, Cisco, Applied Materials, Intel, MovieLabs, RealNetworks, Yahoo, and Universal Studios. Roger served as the founding General Counsel of Liberate Technologies. Prior to studying law, he worked in the data processing industry for a decade. Roger is a frequent speaker on the topics of intellectual property licensing and standards-based patent pools. He earned his J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law and his bachelor’s degree in information systems from the University of Colorado.


Victoria Tai
Finance Controller
Victoria Tai joined Via Licensing Corporation in December 2003. Prior to joining Via Licensing, Vicky was with Dolby Laboratories. Prior to that, Vicky spent five years in public accounting, at the firm of Petrinovich Pugh & Company in San Jose, California, and a year with Portal Software. Vicky obtained her Certified Public Accountant license in 2001. She has a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Hawaii, in Accounting, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside.
