What you’ll do:

The Head of Finance is responsible for leading the finance function, providing strategic financial guidance, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.   This role is based in the Denver office and manages a geographically disbursed team of three.  Interpersonal, communication skills and the ability to execute timely are critical. The ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with stakeholders within Via and Dolby is necessary for success in the role. This hybrid role is required to work onsite in the Denver office three full days per week (Tuesday-Thursday).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help to develop and execute financial strategies that support organizational goals
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to inform business decisions across operations
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization and revenue enhancement
  • Present financial performance reports and analysis to senior leadership
  • Support business case development for new initiatives and investments
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial statement and management reports
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal controls
  • Coordinate annual audits and tax filings
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital optimization
  • Serve as a strategic finance partner to department heads across IT, Licensing, Program Management, Accounting and RS, Marketing and Legal
  • Lead, mentor and develop a geographically distributed team of three finance professionals across Denver and San Francisco offices
  • Travel periodically to the San Francisco office to meet with team members and build relationships

What you’ll do:

We’re seeking a visionary, results-driven Vice President of Global Licensing to lead our worldwide licensing revenue strategy and team. This is a high-impact, C-suite-facing role that sits at the intersection of business transformation, intellectual property, and global technology adoption. You’ll be responsible for driving growth, shaping licensing frameworks, and leading a global team of licensing professionals — all while advancing Via’s mission of driving a strong, efficient global licensing environment that accelerates a virtuous cycle of innovation – which ultimately results in better technologies and products for people everywhere.  This role is ideal for a seasoned IP licensing executive who thrives in complex, cross-border environments and is passionate about building equitable systems that benefit both innovators and implementers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Global Licensing Strategy & Execution
    Own the end-to-end global licensing sales strategy, setting ambitious yet achievable revenue ‘targets across regions and technology programs. Translate corporate objectives into actionable plans, ensuring alignment with legal, finance, program management, and technical teams.
  • Drive Revenue Growth & Market Expansion
    Identify and capitalize on new licensing opportunities across key verticals — including consumer electronics, automotive, mobile, semi-conductor and industrial technologies. Expand footprint in underpenetrated markets and lead entry into new geographies and sectors.
  • Lead Complex, High-Stakes Negotiations
    Serve as the primary negotiator for major global accounts and strategic licensees. Lead multi-party discussions involving SEP/FRAND licensing, portfolio valuation, royalty structures, and cross-licensing considerations — always balancing commercial goals with fairness and long-term relationship health.
  • Manage & Mentor a Global Licensing Team
    Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing global team across regions. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning. Attract and retain top-tier talent in the IP space.
  • Be the Voice of the Market Internally
    Bring deep customer and market insights back into Via to influence program design, pricing models, and go-to-market strategies. Partner closely with Program Management and Legal to evolve licensing frameworks based on real-world feedback and competitive dynamics.
  • Strengthen Strategic Relationships
    Cultivate trusted advisor relationships with C-level decision-makers at major technology companies, OEMs, ODMs, and platform providers. Represent Via at industry forums, standards bodies, and executive roundtables.
  • Collaborate Across Functions
    Work hand-in-hand with Legal, Finance, Program Management teams to ensure compliance, manage risk, and deliver compelling value propositions. Champion data-driven decision-making using CRM, forecasting tools, and market intelligence.
  • Report to Executive Leadership
    Provide regular updates to the President and executive team on pipeline health, deal progress, revenue forecasts, and strategic risks/opportunities. Present to the Board and investor stakeholders as needed.

What you need to succeed:

  • Proven track record of closing multi-million-dollar global licensing deals and consistently exceeding revenue targets
  • Deep understanding of SEP/FRAND licensing principles, international patent law frameworks, and global royalty negotiation dynamics
  • Strong domain expertise in consumer electronics, semiconductor supply chains, mobile ecosystems, automotive tech, or digital media
  • Demonstrated success in leading global, cross-cultural teams and managing distributed operations across time zones
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and executive presence — able to influence both internal stakeholders and external partners at the highest levels
  • Strategic thinker with operational rigor: equally comfortable setting long-term vision and diving into deal-level details
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), licensing databases, and financial modeling tools

Desired background:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in intellectual property licensing, technology sales, or business development — with at least 7 years in senior leadership roles (Director level or above) in IP licensing, ideally within a patent pool, licensing administrator, or technology standards environment
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (JD, MBA, or technical MS/PhD) strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese highly preferred

What you’ll do:

The Senior Counsel role reports to Via’s General Counsel and is based in San Francisco, California. This senior-level position will devote a significant portion of its focus to overseeing patent enforcement across multiple jurisdictions worldwide and developing strategic solutions to complex patent licensing matters.  The role is inherently cross-functional and IP-focused, requiring a highly capable, solutions-oriented legal professional with strong judgement and a results-driven mindset. The successful candidate will provide legal support across all Via business functions and day-to-day company needs, while managing a broad range of projects and dispute resolutions in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

In addition, the role will engage directly with Via’s business partners, including key licensors and licensees within its patent licensing programs to drive successful program outcomes. The Senior Counsel will also regularly partner with Via’s senior leadership team to deliver practical, high-quality legal advice in support of sophisticated transactions and complex business initiatives.  The position requires a deep understanding of intellectual property law and a strong litigation background.  This hybrid role is required to work in the San Francisco office three days per week (Tuesday–Thursday).


Responsibilities:

  • Manage litigation and oversee patent enforcement in various jurisdictions around the world
  • Support Via in licensee audits and contract compliance, resolve audit disputes, including pre-litigation dispute resolution efforts, and other breach-of-contract matters
  • Draft, review and negotiate patent licensing agreements, settlement agreements, vendor contracts and other general business contracts
  • Work with Via’s global licensing team to develop program operational guidelines and agreement templates and develop and define program criteria and processes
  • Assist in the handling of other legal and corporate matters as they arise. Emphasis on providing practical solutions to enable Via’s business and operational needs
  • Manage commercial and IP enforcement disputes, including both domestic and foreign pre-litigation, litigation, patent proceedings and arbitration. Work closely with outside counsel in formulating strategy, drafting pleadings, briefs, and managing discovery
  • Advise management in connection with complex transactional matters associated with IP licensing and collaboration agreements, licensing strategies and protection of IP rights
  • Support Via’s general legal needs across all functions

What you need to succeed:

  • Experience working with teams and business partners distributed worldwide and staying on top of global legal issues
  • Ability to coordinate as necessary with company’s finance, corporate, tax, privacy, and other subject matter experts
  • Excellent negotiation skills and problem-solving instincts
  • Self-initiative and ability to work with minimum of direction under time pressure
  • Strong litigation background and experience
  • Preferred experience in standard bodies, standard-essential patents, licensing programs and/or patent pools

  • Juris Doctor degree from top-tier law school
  • A minimum of 4 years’ legal experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house environment with hands-on experience in litigation, IP litigation, dispute resolution, and/or IP transactions. Experience asserting and licensing patents strongly desirable.
